Guys, has any of you experienced this??? yung bang when you press the accelerator (not fully press but maybe half-way), ang bagal tumakbo (as in parang crawling or parang gumagapang lang sya) then bigla na lang syang...boom...sudden force of accelaration, and when you look at the back, black smoke coming out of the exhaust, ano kaya ito??? 1st time ko na experience this, the temp of the engine is around 1/4 pa lang sa gauge kasi i was kinda waiting for a long time for my kids sa school. Is it bcoz the engine is cold (but i doubt it) I will observe bukas yung takbo ng carens ko, pag ganun pa rin, i will bring it to the dealer for check-up. my ODO reading is 8200+kms, last pms was last year September. My carens is a/t pala.

hmmm. never experienced that with our carens. i assume crdi a/t ka. yung akin crdi a/t din, at malapit ng mag 20,000 km ang ODO (probably in 2 weeks time ipapa-service ko na ito) pero never ko pang nakitaan ng black smoke -- reminds me of the old diesel engines, pero yung nga advantage ng crdi natin, parang hindi na sya diesel engine kasi nga wala ng masyadong usok at vibration. pa check mo na kaagad, baka may nasira sa VGT or sa diesel oxidation catalyst (?) nya.

Yup, mine is a/t, pag normal driving, wala naman akong na notice na smoke na lumalabas, during hard acceleration lang, i took my carens to a hard drive last saturday, kasi yung normal driving speed lang lagi na experience ng carens ko ay around 50-60kph lang, so last sat, pinatakbo ko ng 140-150kph sa highway, and sometimes subjected it to full throttle (i mean as in high rev) and now i notice na when i overtake, konti na lang ang black soots na lumalabas.

A few months ago, I wrote that we need to take our Carens to the open highways of NLEX or SCTEX and blow the carbons from our exhaust system accumulated through days or months of driving short distance, idling too much, and other severe driving conditions. This is due to our catalytic converters not getting hot enough to burn the ash and carbon from our diesel fuel. The only way to get rid of these is to run our engine at least 120 kph for a few kilometers every now and then. I do mine at least once a month by going from Manila to Clark Air Base pampangga and back. So far so good and no black exhaust.

Furthermore, he told me na if ever di maiiwasan na di ako maka open highway, he advised me to use the manual +/- mode if nasa city lang ako para ma rev ng mataas ang engine para lumabas ang mga carbon na nasa exhaust.
