I just came from Pangasinan this morning. I was fortunate enough to be travelling with another Carens starting from Pugo La Union until Baguio. It was a black Carens na EX (ZJP 3**) pero sa tingin ko gas kasi wala siyang CRDI emblem sa likod.
It was closely following me and I was already travelling at about 80-90 kph paakyat ng Marcos Hway. Then nag overtake na siya at iniwan ako but I was eventually able to catch up. Ayun nga gas version ata yon but still, lakas pa rin ng hatak paakyat. Sabay sabay pa kaming nag oovertake ng mga sasakyan sa daan. The acceleration was superb. Mabilis na ako..mas mabilis siya lalo na sa may bandang Taloy Sur (yung long stretch na paakyat) sa Marcos Hway. Both of us virtually hugged the left lane!
Well, this time, ako naman ang iniwanan. Pero ok pa rin naman ang pakiramdam pag may nakakasabay kang Carens sa daan.

ok sir hanren mukhang taga baguio din yung nasundan nyo bakit ambilis nya umakyat kabisado na nya mga curve... hehehe... kahit gas version malakas din pala...
ako last week lang, going up the steep flyover at nagtahan, truck upcoming on the left lane... i went to the right lane kaso may 00 pajero fieldmaster going 60-70kph kaya i went back to the left lane (baka mabitin kasi pag-aaccelerate ko saka momentum), stepped on the gas pedal 3/4 of the way, and stormed past the pajero at 90-100 kph (note: uphill climb ito sa matarik na flyover) then swerved to the right just in time to pass the truck thats still on the left lane.... then thundered down the flyover at 110-120 kph.... lakas talaga hatak ng carens yet never did i feel that i was unsafe... ride and handling still smooth at that speed....

i forgot to say... im also into buy-and-sell of used cars... just last month, i had a 2006 nissan sentra gx 1.3 automatic.... well, let me just say that it has a very huge and heavy body (full size/thick body shell) like a civic or altis, but a small 1300 cc engine .... here's where you can see the ENORMOUS gap of power of the Carens CRDi and this car... when i "feather" the accelerator of the Carens... it just oozes with torque and pull... easily making the speeds from 60kph to 80 kph in a flash... but when i feather the throttle of the GX, it really crawls from 60 to 80 kph (esp when uphill)... there's so little torque in the low rpm band (however when you go flat out, it will accelerate fast... but really noisy engine na and gas-consuming).... it feels forever to build up the speeds. i guess the sentra isn't designed to be rev-happy as i noticed it really shifts up very early (as early as 1600 to 2000 rpms) and wants to maintain low revs. with the carens (matic) i noticed that even in 60 kph, when i go to the manual mode (+/-), its still in 3rd gear all the time and wont even go into 4th until you reach 70-80kph. funny thing is... the more i use my Carens... the more unsatisfied i get when driving other cars (like my wife's Civic VTi-S) and other vehicles..... ;D with so much power and torque its hard to keep my right foot calmed down.... hehehe.... i never felt any urge to speed or go fast with the GX... maybe because i know the performance is disappointing??? or maybe i know di nya kakayanin pag-overtake so wag na lang?  hehehe... like sir hanren said before ---- IBA driving style and habit ko pag Carens.... maybe absolute power really does corrupt absolutely.... hehehe... Sir Odie nag iiba ang driving style natin under the wheel of Carens..hehehe..Para tayong politico..(naco corrupt ng power..  ) Btw, yung nang iwan sa akin na Carens (ZJ* 3**) nakita ko na naman but this time, sa Kia Dagupan nag papaservice. Gas version nga na EX. May thule na nakakabit sa roof rails. Unfortunately, di ko nachika yung may ari wala kasi dun. then nung pauwi na ako ng Baguio, nakasabay ko na naman siya sa daan sa La Union. Ako ang sumusunod sa kanya pero mukhang nag give way na sa akin at nagovertake na lang ako sabay busina. Eto yung mga time na gumaganda ang araw ko  |

guys,
pasali lang po, kalalabas ko lang ng carens nung Sept 25, tarde in ko yung 2002 CR-V ko, di nako nag test drive kasi limited ang time ko napadaan lang ako sa kia pampanga kasi gusto ko tingnan yung Mohave, grabe ganda, kaya lang di kaya ng budget ko hehehe, next is yung bagong Sorento, kaya lang 5 seater lang pala, so I ask about Carens, yung naka display fully set up, ang ganda.
nung nilabas ko na si carens my love, kinakabahan ako baka hindi sya kasing bilis ng CR-V ko, pero nung pag pasok ko na sa San Fernando exit (Pampanga) Grabeeeeee, Used to be kaskasero ako lalo pag alam ko performance ng dala ko, nagulat talaga ako sa performance, Iniwan ko lahat ng on the road, Then I noticed a Montero nag give way naman ako malapit na sa Dau toll plaza, Then I joined SCTEX, that time walang masyadong movers kaya ininjoy ko nalang yung ride ko, mas compy pa sya sa CR-V ko (7 years old na kasi) saka handling excellent perfect choice for me, lahat ng hinahanap ko sa ride nasa Carens na.
One more thing nga pala, Some other japs car owners used to down grade our Carens because of past Korean cars impression, Kaya ang sarap ng feeling pag nag overtake kana iniwan mo pa. hehehehe, PEACE.

i have too many "iwan" stories too, specially with the bigger SUV's but I will save the space.
spike67, you did not mention the variant of your carens, I assumed it is EX CDRi. (?)

Thanks barzee, Mine is LX CRDi A/T, titanium silver. no plate yet. happy mover ako ng SCTEX, since taga bataan ako, kaya lang dami ng road repair ngayon sa SCTEX kaya cool down muna ako sa speed ko, When I was with my CR-V, I'm a contented owner, But now with my Carens, I feel like i'm a well BLESSED owner.
