hi guys n gals, i just want to share with you my HID DIY install. basically what i got is a generic China made HID kit. what separates it apart i think are the ff.
** Ballast they'r the slim type its about 30%smaller than normal.
** H7 bulb - metal base....normal ones are made of plastic.
cost me around US40 (its dealer's price not retail though....)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Connection Diagram
> connection is pretty straight forward. connectors are designed in a way u won't be screwing up positive and negative.... i think its self-explanatory already....basically just connect the ballast to the bulb on 3different fronts.... the original power for the bulb
is routed to the 2individual wires sticking out together with the HID cluster...
HeadLight Removal:
>> it just takes a simple 10mm socket wrench to remove 2bolt locations. then pull-out the bottom of the headlight with an up-ward motion then wiggle it to the middle of the car to get the headlamp system free fm. the body. don't forget to remove the connector behind before totally pulling it out...
Headlight Removed : front
>> this is how it looks like yanked-out of the car...now in my living room. haha.
Headlight Removed : back
H7 Bulb : Halogen vs. HID side by side.
>> it show's the HID is much longer, so would need to drill the 1" diameter hole at the low beam bulb-cap for the wire to get thru fm. ballast to headlamp system...
i used 25mm hole-saw with a drill bit at the center....
i happen to have one at home so maybe u can borrow fm. somebody else if u don't have the tool.
also use Silicon sealant to ensure good seal quality and prevent perspiration/condensation inside...
H7 inside
>>original connector can be tucked inside the headlamp system. use some electrical tape to avoid short.
Ballast - Left side
>>used cable tie to fixed it behind plastic frame....
Ballast - Right side
>>used cable tie to fixed it behind plastic frame....
Basement Parking Lot (Flourescent light only)
Basement Parking Lot w/ HID on my Carens + Flourescent light
>>enjoy more light... haven't checked it asphalt road on a rainy night though....
BTW, i took photo's using Canon A610.
F-Stop = f/5
Exposure time = 2sec.

also would like to thank 'PLP' of "http://www.kia-forums.com/kia-carens-rondo-forum" as my inspiration for doing this on my own...
