Does anyone else think there is an inherent problem with Carens 2007 turbo charger? Mine failed right after the 3rd year. And again after 1 year with the replacement turbo charger (a free replacement part from KIA), the same problem happened.
I have also a friend who bought his carens a couple of months ahead of me and had a similar experience. According to him, he learned from other mechanics that we should avoid revving the engine prior to turning it off to ensure the turbo is receiving equitable oil flow relative to its instantaneous power.
Is there truth to this advice? Anybody else have this issue?

mine will be turning 3 on may at yung palyado lang ang naging problema ko which was na-correct ng ecu update.
nabasa ko lang somewhere na revving is bad for crdi engine kaya lang nung nagpa-register ako sa lto, inis na inis ako dun sa emission testing, that was the first time na nakita ko yung usok nung carens ko, grabe i-rev talagang gustong ibagsak para maglagay ka

Turbochargers used to fail when paired with oil that wasn't durable enough to withstand the heat of the turbo bearing. A phenomenon called coking used to happen, wherein the oil becomes charred and gets stuck in the oil passages of the turbo, akin to cholesterol blocking one's arteries.
Turbochargers in modern engines are not only lubricated by the engine's motor oil (modern variants already designed for turbos) but also cooled by the engine's water/coolant. Coking shouldn't normally happen, even if you immediately shut off your engine every time.
But if you decide to use an inferior grade of motor oil in your modern turbocharged engine, or decide not to regularly change your oil, or both, then you can experience a swift end to your turbo. Just stick to the recommended change oil cycle and use the oil grade and standard as specified in your owner's manual, and you should be fine.
Turbo timers are cheap insurance. You can buy and fit one if you like. But the foolproof solution to turbocharger failure due to coking is regimented maintenance schedules.

sir seymorebutts... pasado ba sa emission testing ang carens mo? tagal na to sir, sorry ngayon ko lang nabasa, last january 2012 yung renewal ko and as usual pinaabot ata ng 3k yung rpm sa pag rev, pasado naman sa emission

Im having problem with my 2008 Carens crdi matic, turbo.it hums or whine and lately a metalic sound when accelator is released.this sound appears after starting and disappears when engine attains ideal temp.do i need to replace my turbo or have it cleaned/serviced?please help me!!!
