There’s something unusual in our Kia Carens, particularly in its automatic transmission. After traveling for a few kilometers and the engine reached it normal temperature, I notice the following symptoms. 1. From full stop, the car is laboring to move forward. 2. At full stop, if the gear is shifted to either “R” or “D”, the car jerks - stronger at “R”. 3. At full stop or in motion, if the gear is shifted to Sports Mode, the number of gear appearing on the indicator is always 3 regardless of the speed and even at full stop. It can be shifted down to 2 and back to 3 but never to 1 and 4. 4. While running and the gear is shifting, the gear slips before engaging. You may check my blogpost. :-*14 |

Been driving an A/T for almost 3 mos now... I have never experienced the laboring symptom you have mentioned.. Is the jerking motion strong? usually A/T cars have that due to the gears engaging... I think yung sa sports mode is because pag mataas ang RPM, hindi nya talaga ipapasok sa 1st gear to prevent over revving... good thing you had it checked to find out if there is really something wrong...

It's laboring because it's engaged in third gear. The jerk at "R" is strong. Never felt the jerks before. Even at full stop, nasa 3rd gear sya pag nag-sports mode.  15 |

Better bring your Carens to the shop ASAP before damage to the tranny worsens!  |

Sir snerac, I noticed yesterday that when I shift to sports mode, the gear is not always in 3rd... depending on the speed and the RPM, the gear would be in different positions, from a full stop it would always be in 1, pag rolling naman it would depend on the speed, minsan 2 minsan 3.... there might be something wrong with the controller ng tranny nyo...

Thanks guys for the reply. Okay na ang Carens namin. The cause was broken wires that made the sensors erratic. Kaya nagluluko and A/T. Bakit putol ang wires? Nginatngat ng daga. Bayad ako ng mga P1,700. The rats are not covered by warranty. Read my story here.  16 |

praise the Lord at ok na carens mo!  at least may peace of mind kna. nkakapraning nman tlaga kng may prob ung car na d mo maexplain eh. i am really glad everything turnd out fine. darn rats! hehehe God bless! |

kwento ko lang din (on top of the rat story ni sir snerac), medyo marami rin kasi pusa samin, and tendency nila lalo na pag malamig, maghanap ng mainit, like yung makina natin. So umaakyat sila sa ibabaw ng makina at dun natutulog. Yung Tucson ng kuya ko nasira aircon at water chambers nya dahil din sa pusang umaakyat sa makina.
Napilitan ako lagyan ng screen yung ilalim ng carens ko para lumiit yung pwede lusutan ng pusa... kami pusa ang hinahunting samin hehehe.
