I was about to leave SM Megamall this morning, when I was trying to disengage the alarm, it's not responding. I tried several time but still no luck. I did the usual, used the key to enter the car and just click the engage button on the transmitter. After several tries to disengaging the alarm, it didn't work. I was stuck there at Megamall since the anti-theft function of our beloved Carens was working. My husband tried to locate the fuse where the alarm box was located but he didn't find it.
Good thing I was at Megamall. I immediately called Francis from Kia Mandaluyong and told him about my problem. He immediately sent his technicians who arrived in less than 30 minutes.
The technician checked the alarm and he said that there's really something wrong with in. He didn't have any choice at that moment but to remove the fuse so that at least we can still use the car. I'll just bring the car at Signet on Wednesday so that the technician will be well equipped to diagnose the problem. Francis promised me that if there's anything that will be replaced, it will still be covered by the warranty.
Now the mystery remains, my Carens is 14 months old only, how come there's already a problem with the alarm. I hope this is just an isolated case.

Hmmm...might be the battery on the remote control has run out or lots of interference in the background kaya the remote has a hard time connection with the car.

I don't think there's a problem with the remote because whenever I click on the engage button, it works. It's only the disengage that's not working. Oh well, let's see what KIA will say about this

Incidentally, I experienced something similar. Me and my wife were cruising near Silang from Tagaytay, I stepped on the gas to overtake (speed was about 90-100) when suddenly the alarm went on, it won't disengage using the remote. The car was running ok but the alarm is on all the time so I stopped the car and turn off the engine, that is the only time the alarm went off.
From then on everytime I put the key to the ignition and tries to start the alarm will turn on, after a couple of tries the car won't start. That's when I thought that the anti-theft feature has turned on. I waited for a few seconds, I was thinking of who to call for assistance, Signet or AAP? Then, I thought of trying again.. and the car starts without any problem... weird! After that incident, all seems ok.
I'll have this checked on my next PMS. Sana lang e wag na maulit... keeping my fingers crossed.
Maam Bingski, please give feedback on what went wrong with your alarm system. You may tell Francis what happened to me as well.

LX yun model mo diba? well ang pagkakaalam ko e nagjajam ang signal usually ng mga alarm ng sasakyan when ever may malalaking mga antenna sa paligid specially in megamall. So everytime I'm in megamall usually my alarm won't work pero minsan gumagana din. Kaya usually I used the key tapos pagnakapasok na ako tinatapat ko yun remote sa ilalim ng steering column andun kasi usually located yun box e. para malapit yun remote then nadidisable ko na yun alarm. Got these problem on most of my alarms.

I got the car today and apparently, there was a problem with the remote. According to Audiovox, they will replace the module entirely but then there's no stock right now. In the meantime, they took the problematic remote. Francis taught me how to do the bypass the alarm. Here's how: Open the door using the key, the alarm would kick in, just let it sound the alarm. While depressing the brake pedal, open-close the driver side door 3 times. That should disengage the alarm and you'll be able to start the engine. Who would ever know that this is the way to bypass the alarm

Wow grabe naman ang bypass mode niya. Sa viper alarm ko previously ang bypass e find the red button lang then turn the keys to on and off lang bypas na e while pressing on the red button.

Di ba AVT ang nakakabit na alarm sa LX? Nope, yung mga alarm ng LX ay locally installed by winterpines, yung EX ang AVT.
